Phoenix to Homestead-Miami
November 11-18, 2018
Paul Menard's No 21 Quick Lane Fusion carried the name of the late David Pearson on the door in honor of the Hall of Fame driver who was a large part of Wood Brothers history.
Starting 22nd in Homestead, Menard struggled to find speed early on. Although the crew was able to improve the performance of the car, much of the race was spent trying to recover from a lap lost in Stage 1. There was also an untimely pit stop to repair damage from a brush with the wall midway through Stage 2.
Crew Chief Greg Erwin gambled and took the wave-around on three occasions, which, along with Menard's driving, allowed Menard to hold off Daniel Suarez and Jamie McMurray in a three-way battle for 19th in the final points standings. He finished the Ford EcoBoost 400 in the 25th position.
Eddie Wood stated, "We've definitely got something to build on. It's been a real pleasure working with Paul and (crew chief) Greg Erwin this year." After also congratulating Team Penske for their championship win, he also took the time to thank the fans, " We'd also like to thank our fans for their support this season. We have some of the most loyal fans in the sport, and we hope they all enjoy the holiday season."
Menard and the Wood Brothers return to the track in February for the season-opening Daytona 500.

Texas to Phoenix
November 4-11, 2018
It's nearly the end of the 2018 season but I will be covering Paul Menard throughout Miami, in the offseason, and then will look forward to seeing what 2019 brings this team and the iconic 21 Woods Brothers Racing organization.
Menard and his team had a recent test session at the relatively flat, one-mile track in the desert west of Phoenix, AZ. Hopefully, they have some pretty good ideas about what to (and not to) do with their No 21 Fusion in Sunday's Can-Am 500 at ISM Raceway.
Last week at Texas Motor Speedway, Menard finished 13th, moving the team from 20th to 19th, just four points behind Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. With solid days, they should be fine and can finish out the season in at least 18th. To date, Menard claims 34 starts, with 1 pole, and is still hoping for that elusive win.
Menard qualified in 11th for Sunday's race at ISM Raceway.
Menard's rookie year was in 2007 and he drove for Richard Childress Racing for seven seasons before moving to the iconic No 21 Wood Brothers Racing Ford in 2018. He has also competed in the NXS races for Team Penske this season, competing in four Xfinity races for Team Penske with: 591 laps run, 4 top 10s, 1 top 5, and 11 laps led.
Tune in on Sunday, November 11 at 2:30 pm ET on NBC to see what Menard can get done in the desert!
