Martinsville Speedway
March 24, 2019
It’s that time of year! It's time for the Grandfather Clock and the Martinsville Famous Hot Dogs. It's the first short track race of the year and by far my favorite track to go to, and now my home track. I love going to Martinsville Speedway for many reasons, but this year made it even more special to me. When you go to a track, a must do is go to the tweet up and talk to the people inside the sport we love. You even get to see some of the drivers who will come to it and talk to fellow fans that can become life-long friends. This year, I got to be right there at the drivers meeting to see almost every driver, and I got to say, "Hello! Good luck today!" to Ty Dillon. I knew going into the race it's not one of his best tracks, but it's short track racing and anything can happen.
Dillon started 22nd and slowly moved his way to the front. On the first pit stop of the day, Dillon got a speeding penalty and it took a wave around to get him back up to the front, but that did not ruin his day.
Running all 500 laps and miles at Martinsville is no easy task, but the No. 13 team did a good job running up front and being there at the end. He finished 13th but at one time was up to 7th.
The No. 13 car has made a lot of gains this year and is running up front. The team is heading in the right direction and I feel like their first win is just around the corner. If you have not checked it out yet, go check out The Ride, Season 2 on Dillon's YouTube channel for more behind the scenes of his life. It's a great vlog.
