Surprise! I’m back and I’m glad to be back. This time I’m more excited than ever to be writing for NASCARFemale again.Let me tell you the true story about how I got into NASCAR racing. My friend's parents were huge Tony Stewart fans so every time I would hang out with them if Tony was in the race, it would be on.
Around 2007 or so, my dad won tickets to the local dirt track that is in my town. I went with him to the race, the race that night was street stocks. I enjoyed the races it was just I didn’t understand what was going on. It wasn’t until late 2014 when I became a fan.
I was riding the bus to go to one of the college classes. Since the college was over 30 minutes away I would scroll through Facebook to pass the time. One day I saw one of the buzzfeed posts one of my friends shared. I went to go click on it but right underneath it was an article Fox Sports shared from the NASCAR on Fox Facebook page. I accidentally clicked on that instead. I didn’t realize it until halfway through, I was reading the recap of the Chicagoland race. When I signed up for Facebook, they gave recommendations on pages you might like. And I liked the Fox Sports page.
I was just so into it. That was a Wednesday and I told myself I had to watch the next race. On September 21, 2014 I watched my very first NASCAR race flag to flag. By lap three I was hooked into NASCAR. Joey Logano won the race that day.
Before the 2015 season started I wanted to become a fan of a particular driver. I started following NASCARFemale on Twitter. They followed me back and I wanted to know more about them. When Liz and Katelyn sent me the list of available drivers that needed an Official Reporter, I saw Greg Biffle.
I liked his name and I started to become his OR.I was his OR for two years until he decided not to return. I went to Beyond The Flag and wrote for them. I’m pretty sure you have seen some of my articles from them. I enjoyed writing for them it’s just that my work schedule didn’t work out with what they were asking me to do. There is no hard feelings between me or them.
A little bit about me and my personal life: I was born and raised in New Mexico. I go by either Kayla, Kaye, or KK. In my free time I do amateur photography. The two closest NASCAR tracks to me are Texas Motor Speedway and Phoenix International Speedway. I hope to start going back to college again and earn a journalism degree. As you could guess I love to write. My favorite drivers are Matt Kenseth and Brad Keselowski.
This past spring, I went to the April 9th Texas race as it was my first live, in person, NASCAR race. I had such a cool experience. If you want follow me on Twitter and Instagram @bookk14g.I’m so glad to be back but now I’m going to be on the Journey to Cup for Todd Gilliland. Hope to talk you all soon. :)
Pit Stop: I’m going to something a little different with my articles this time. I’m going to put in trivia or facts about stuff in my articles. This pit stop fact for my about me is: the April 9th race I went to, not only was my first live race but it was also my 22nd birthday that day.
