I was born and raised in Mississippi where NASCAR is almost a religion for some people. I wasn’t one of those! I just didn’t understand the fascination with watching cars going around and around in circles, so needless to say, I didn’t follow the sport. It wasn’t until 2005 that I decided to give it a chance, mainly because I was bored and there was nothing on TV but the Daytona 500. I decided to watch, and by the end of the race, I realized there’s more to NASCAR than just turning left!
So, I started watching the races each week. I had no idea there was so much more to it than just driving fast! I was interested in learning about all of it, from pit stops to qualifying, track bars to restrictor plates and well...you get the gist! By the end of 2005, Tony Stewart won his 2nd championship and I was hooked on Smoke and NASCAR!!!
Needless to say, I became obsessed with the sport. In 2007, I got to attend my first Sprint Cup race at Talladega. Since then, I’ve been to races at Las Vegas and Michigan. For a short time in 2008, I was the “NASCAR Girl” on a local sports radio station in Jackson, MS, recapping the race each Monday morning and previewing the upcoming race. I also keep up with the Xfinity Series and the Camping World Truck Series.
While I am a die-hard Tony Stewart fan, I also follow Kevin Harvick and Kyle Busch. My newest favorite driver is Martin Truex, Jr. I’ve watched him for several years now, and I am so excited that he’s having such a great season so far! I am proud to be the “Official Fan Reporter” for the driver of the #78 Furniture Row Chevy!!!
I am by no means an expert on NASCAR, but I am a knowledgeable and passionate fan. Nothing makes me madder than missing a race! I follow the sport 24/7, and I’m excited to contribute to NASCARFemale. My opinions are my own.
