Feb 11/15 Emily Luther has been following NASCAR since she was a little tyke, driving around in her battery operated racecar. Emily has always been one of the boys—participating in weekly trips to the local dirt track, going mudding, and enjoying Sunday afternoons watching her family root on Bill Elliott and Dale Earnhardt.
In 1998, Emily became a Dale Earnhardt Jr fan, after pointing to his car and telling her mother by screaming “I pick him”. Throughout the years, Emily has always supported DEJ, but has always been a fan of her hometown racer, Dave Blaney. Emily watched Dave and his brother Dale, race at Sharon Speedway growing up, so it was only natural she rooted for him in NASCAR.
Flashback to a few years ago, Ryan Blaney debuted in the NASCAR K&N Series, and Emily knew then that her heart and loyalty would no longer lie with Dale Jr, but with the boy of the son she grew up watching race in those sprint cars. Since Ryan debuted in K&N, Emily has followed Ryan’s success diligently, including his successful career in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, finishing second in the points in 2014 and winning rookie of the year.
Emily’s first NASCAR race was at Kentucky Speedway in September 2013, at the Nationwide Series race. Not only was that her first race, but she got to meet her favorite driver, Ryan, and Ryan won his first race in the NNS Series. When news of Ryan becoming a driver in NSCS part-time for 2015 became headlines, Emily knew she wanted to help show Ryan’s success throughout his career.
As a senior at the University of Cincinnati, majoring in IT and Business, Emily hopes to move to Charlotte one day in order to pursue a career in NASCAR, working on their websites and social media influences.
